Scottish Teen Lauren Dunsmore Selected for Team GB at European Youth Olympic Festival
Cumbernauld, Scotland — July 2025
RAW Taekwondo Scotland is proud to announce that 17-year-old Lauren Dunsmore has been selected to represent Team GB at the upcoming European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), taking place 20–27 July 2025 in Skopje, North Macedonia.
Lauren, one of Scotland’s brightest young sporting talents, trains exclusively at RAW Taekwondo Scotland in Cumbernauld — the region’s only dedicated Olympic-style Taekwondo centre. She joins an elite team of just 54 athletes from across the UK, selected by the British Olympic Association, to compete across 15 Olympic sports at one of Europe’s most prestigious multi-sport events.
Remarkably, Lauren is the only female athlete from a Scottish Taekwondo club chosen for this year’s Team GB squad, joining a select group of seven Taekwondo athletes representing the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland nation.
A Rising Star on the International Stage
Over the past two years, Lauren has established herself as one of Europe’s top youth competitors, achieving:
-
🥇 Multiple international medals at major high-level competitions
-
🥋 Maintaining No.1 seed status in her division at several ranked events
-
🇬🇧 Retention by GB Taekwondo as a senior athlete through August 2026
-
🏅 Becoming a leading contender for the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026
Her selection reflects not only her personal dedication but also the strength of RAW Taekwondo’s elite athlete development pathway — providing local athletes access to world-class training, coaching, and opportunities to reach the sport’s highest levels.
A Proud Moment for RAW Taekwondo Scotland
“Lauren has worked tirelessly for this moment,” said Robert Robertson, Head Coach and Founder of RAW Taekwondo Scotland.
“Her selection is a huge achievement not just for her, but for the sport in Scotland. Lauren is proof of what’s possible when talent meets opportunity, and we’re incredibly proud to see her representing Cumbernauld, Scotland, and Team GB on the European stage.”
Lauren’s achievement follows a wave of Scottish success in Olympic Taekwondo, coming just months after Rebecca McGowan, Scotland’s first-ever senior Olympic athlete, represented Team GB at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, finishing 4th place.
Looking Ahead: Skopje 2025 & Beyond
The European Youth Olympic Festival offers athletes the chance to experience an Olympic-style environment, competing against the best young athletes from across Europe. For Lauren, this is not only an opportunity to represent her country but also a stepping stone towards her ultimate goal — competing at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Lauren will travel as a fully funded athlete, experiencing high-performance preparation, world-class facilities, and the pride of wearing the Team GB kit — an unforgettable milestone in her journey from local training in Cumbernauld to the international stage.
